questions regarding islam
i am a 17 year old girl and ive come across some tiktoks that really make me question islam. Let me say that i do believe in god but the problem is religion. First, im not the best person and i dont really help others but in the end im supposed to go to jannah right? what about the people who are waaaayy better people than me who help others in need but arent muslim, how will they go to hell when they built a better life than me and had more of an impact on the world then me? what if someone was raised and born christian or jew and lived according to the right morals and studied islam but still found their religion to be right to them? it makes no sense that they would go to hell for eternity and another muslim person who does horrible things or isnt the best person will go to jannah. Second, there are some
verses in the quran which i question sometimes like surah 65 verse 4 regarding divorce, it says ‘those who have not yet menstruated’ and people interpret it as child marriage and its really unsettling because thats so weird and sometimes i just feel like some answers arent enough. Im so tired i miss having high imaan. All these questions started when the iran-america war started and i was in one of the affected neighbouring countries that were being bombed. My imaan dropped and i was depressed and it seems to keep dropping, im so tired i keep questioning everything and i dont want to anymore, everyone else seems so sure of islam and i want to be too.

Response from a “Fatima Counselor”:
Salaam Aleykum,
Thank you for sending your heart-felt post. You are a deep thinker. I understand how many things about Islam may seem confusing in this age where there is mis-information, mis-interpretation and misunderstanding flooding the internet. Please do not use tiktok or social media as a source for inspiration or truth. You won’t find what you are looking for there. Remember the basic tenets of our belief, which include belief in His holy books and His prophets. So if we believe in Prophet Issa Aley Salaam, and his book the Ingeel, then what can we believe about the followers of Christianity? The same goes with the followers of Musa Aley Salaam (and all the prophets). Use your inner wisdom to reflect, don’t be influenced by media or by individual human proclamations regarding heaven, hell, and judgment. Allah is overwhelmingly Ar Rahman (the Compassionate) – this is what your inner truth will tell you. How can you emmulate this compassion?
You believe in God – that’s the most important thing. In your heart of hearts, i.e. that deeper place of consciousness where your Ruh (spirit) resides, you will find YOUR truth. Before opening the Quran, ask God Almighty to help you understand it in the way you need to – so start with intention. And use this same intentional attitude towards how you live your life. You compare yourself to others whose actions are better and worse than yours. Rather than focusing on those “others”, stay focused on yourself, on your values, and on how you can lead a good life. Do good whenever you can, and notice it. Read about the life of Rasool Allah pbuh, and think of it as a guide on how to live life. He is the perfectly perfect model on how to live life. Perhaps starting a daily journal, where you write down “what made me feel good about Islam”, will help you connect more with your iman.
You are influenced by external distractions out there. Re-orient yourself inwards, towards your inner spirit. This is where you’ll find truth, peace and light.
From,
“Fatima FL”
